“Data lights the path from where you are to where you want to be.”

Ken Robin

Chief Data Analyst

He/Him/His

As the lead data analyst at HSG, Ken works to bridge the gap between data and practice by translating complex information into actionable findings that drive results.

Ken's work at HSG focuses on improving systemwide data protocols so that actionable information ends up in the right hands at the right time and organizations remain focused on improving outcomes. He also offers financial modeling and market research analysis so clients can develop growth strategies with data-driven confidence.

Ken joined HSG after two decades of conducting research, crafting evaluations, and helping organizations manage the transition to data-driven strategy. His work has spanned across sectors, from education to healthcare to housing authorities, helping agencies of all sizes understand their data and impact.

Dr. Robin has more than 20 years of experience conducting research, having worked for 7 years at the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) and 13 years at the Center for Human Services Research before joining HSG in 2019.

At NIEER, Dr. Robin’s publications included evaluations of state-funded preschool programs throughout the nation, randomized trials comparing the effects of full- and half-day school schedules, early education policy reports, and cost/benefit analyses. Dr. Robin also co-authored and managed data for NIEER’s annual State of Preschool Yearbook.

At Center for Human Services Research at SUNY Albany, Dr. Robin co-authored successful grant applications that have brought more than $20 million to various local and state agencies. He worked with the City School District of Albany as the lead evaluator for the district’s Magnet School Assistance Program and Safe Schools/Healthy Students initiatives.

Ken also served as the lead data analyst for The Albany Promise, a cradle-to-career partnership designed to improve education outcomes and build civic infrastructure in Albany. In this role, Ken engaged in many large-scale data projects, connecting and analyzing disparate data sets to understand the multiple, complex factors impacting youth as they navigated the health, education, and community settings along their developmental journey. Critical to the success of the initiative, Ken worked with the largest social service agencies serving children in the region to build up their data infrastructure, understand their impact, and change their practice in order to improve outcomes.

Ken holds a B.A. degree in Human Development from Cornell University and Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in School Psychology from Rutgers University.
